Disaster Management Initiatives and Convergence Society (DMICS) established in the year 2005 and originally known as Disaster Management Infrastructure and Control Society is a registered body under the Society Act and is a trend setting forum for decision makers, practitioners and experts to announce initiatives, launch new projects, share information, promote campaign and provide solutions to effective Disaster Resilience and Recovery methodologies (DRR).
The policies and programs of DMICS are regulated by the Governing Body comprising eminent persons in Science and Technology with wide spectrum of specializations and experiences. The organization has a core team of consultants, Advisors and project-specific professionals drawn from various countries committed to efficient and effective disaster management.
The mission of DMICS is to reduce vulnerability of all types of hazards, be it natural or manmade by putting in place institutional and policy framework. DMICS also envisions to build a safer and secured India through sustainable collective effort, synergy of national capacities and people's participation achieving the goal with missionary zeal and move along together.
DMICS is credited with many milestones in the realization of its aims and objectives. The 1st and 2nd World Congresses held in the years 2008 at Hyderabad and 2015 at Visakhapatnam are among the many landmark events that brought distinct recognition to DMICS in the comity of nations. While Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Former President of India has been the Chief Guest of the 1st World Congress, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh inaugurated the 2nd WCDM held in 2015. Hon'ble Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu has been the Chief Guest. Both the congresses laid down a clear road map and action plan to mitigate the effects of Disasters on mankind through harnessing National and International resources.
